New England, and Massachusetts in particular, has always embraced advancements in the high-tech industries. To access these groups, make sure your web browser has a news server defined. From Netscape, you can do this through the Options/Mail and News Preferences.../Servers settings, and then set the NNTP server. Your internet service provider should be able to help if you're having problems.
